Rihanna says being a mum is “the most love I have ever known” after giving birth to her first child back in May.
The singer – who shares her tot with rapper A$AP Rocky – described her son as “the happiest baby”, adding that “when he smiles at you, everything else goes away.”
Opening up about motherhood, she said: “It’s crazy and it’s amazing, wild, weird – all of those things, all at once. It’s the best feeling and the most love I have ever known. Every step, every facial expression, every new milestone is new, it’s fascinating. I love it.”
Gushing about her son, whose name she is yet to reveal, Rihanna added: “He’s fun. No matter what you’re doing or what you’re feeling, when he smiles at you, everything else goes away.”
The singer and style entrepreneur – who launched her own lingerie brand, Savage Fenty, in 2018 – had just just three days off work after giving birth.
She explained: “I was back at work three days after I gave birth, getting back into making music, back into the studio again, and on a Zoom call for Savage. Things like Savage, things like the show, those due dates that you can’t push back… It was important to me to get back.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed Rihanna placed 73rd on its list of the world’s 100 most powerful women thanks to her beauty and lingerie businesses – placing higher than the likes of Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
According to the publication, her net worth is currently $1.4 billion, making her the 2,031st richest person in the world.
Fashion and beauty career aside, Rihanna also has other big commitments in her day job as a singer, and says she's thrilled to confirm she’ll be performing at the Super Bowl next year, describing it as “one of the biggest stages in the world”.
She said: “It’s an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that but it’s nerve-wracking. You want to get it right because you know everybody is watching and rooting for you. It’s a challenge that I was willing to accept and I want to get it right. Being a new mom, nothing would have gotten me out of the house if it wasn’t for challenges like that.”
She’s also hinted at expanding her fashion credentials by designing a kids’ range.
She said: “You know, I always thought doing kids’ stuff would be cliché and the obvious thing to do when you have a baby.
“Then I went shopping and I realised, ‘OK, maybe I need to start making the stuff that I want my kids to wear.’ It’s hard but I have got my own ideas.”
