Prince Harry is a lot of things. A dad. An actual prince. An advocate for mental health. But in addition to those things, he's also a big fan of the Foo Fighters. After you let that head-scratching fun fact settle in (cue mental images of him blasting "Everlong" and "My Hero" to baby Archie), add one more twist to the story: a slap.
During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show, Foo Fighters bandmates Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins explained that during a European tour in 2015, Harry paid them a visit and accidentally "smacked" Hawkins.
Grohl said that it happened after he hurt his leg on tour, noting that the whole experience was "chill" and that Harry even offered up a gift to help in his recovery. But that generosity got eclipsed by that playful smack.
"He brought me this thing to hold my iPad so I could just watch movies and shit. It was great. He was cool," Grohl explained. "He smacked Taylor in the face one time."
"It pissed me off, actually," Hawkins said of the situation. "He walked in and goes, 'How are you doing' I said, 'I can't wake up. I'm so tired. He just goes bam and I went, ''you motherfucker.' He was like, 'Are you awake now?'"
While just about anyone would be enraged by getting physical with someone they barely know, Hawkins isn't holding a grudge.
"I mean, I got slapped in the face by the prince," he told Stern. "That's OK, really, when you think about it."
Hawkins mentioned the incident with the BBC News back in 2017, noting that he looked back on the moment with fond memories. "I was a little like, 'What was that?'" he said. "It was great, it was funny. I wore that slap with pride."
