Pete Davidson has hit back at claims that his friends are concerned about him, after rumours began to circulate that he had been “brainwashed” by girlfriend Kim Kardashian into becoming a “name-dropping robot”
The Saturday Night Live star, 28, has been dating Kim since October last year, with the lovebirds appearing to be happier than ever in their relationship.
However, rumours emerged earlier this week that friends of the comedian are concerned he is “selling his soul” as he prepares to “give up his life in New York” including his weekly gig working on Saturday Night Live, to become a “full-time plus-one."
Following the speculation, Pete hit back at the claims, with his representative revealing to the Mirror Online that "there is no truth to this”.
Kim, 41, who recently attended her sister Kourtney’s wedding in Italy over the weekend, described funny-man Pete as “the one” and has even hinted that she’d like to start a family with him in the future.
Pete’s reps dismissed claims after a source toldHeat: “It’s like Pete’s been brainwashed.”
The insider told the publication that the comic started out being independent in the relationship as his friends and family got to know his new flame, but “that has really changed, with Kim well and truly running his life”.
“She’s persuaded him to uproot his life in New York to move closer to her place in Calabasas, California, and even suggested that he quit his job on SNL. Everyone knows Kim is one for the savviest characters in the entertainment world, and Pete should seriously consider her suggestions."
Pete did confirm he was quitting SNL last week, but has strongly refuted claims that this was the reason.
Outside of the popular comedy show, Pete is currently involved in a number of other projects that demand his attention, including a biopic about Joey Ramones and a romantic comedy which also stars SNL co-star Colin Jost.
Most of his commitments beyond these have been as a supportive boyfriend at Kim’s events, such as her attendance at this year’s Met Gala and at the White House Correspondents dinner.
The couple went public with their relationship back in March after Kim was declared legally single following her divorce from rapper Kanye West.
