In a preview of music video for her latest song ‘Letters’, the singer is cozying up to the Compton rapper while naked in a bathtub, leaving her 15-year-old son confused.
AceShowbiz –Monica apparently failed to explain her profession to her children. The R&B icon has been confronted by her son Romelo after a preview from her upcoming music video for her latest song “Letters” surfaced online.
It’s actually Monica herself who shared the preview to the music video on her Instagram page on Thursday, June 29. In the clip, she is seen cozying up to The Game in a bathtub. The two appear to be naked as her body is covered with thick bubbles.
After watching the video, Romelo was understandably in shock. “Yo what is this,” he wrote in the comments section of his mother’s post.
The 42-year-old quickly came with an explanation for the steamy display in the video. She wrote back in the reply, “SON…. It’s like a movie!! Momma at work.” She added a face with tears of joy emoji.
Social media users can’t help laughing at Romelo’s honest reaction to the video. Weighing on the son and mother duo’s interaction, one follower wrote, “lmfaoooo I’m crying.” Another advised the teen, “lmfao mind your business momma is grown.”
A third user jokingly told the 15-year-old, whom Monica shares with her ex and rapper Rodney Hill a.k.a. Rocko, “this is now yo step daddy young man.” A fourth person similarly added, “@romelo better start calling The Game Daddy.”
Monica has also poked fun at the humorous and awkward situation with her son. Taking to her Instagram Story, she shared a screengrab of her son’s comment and captioned it, “Somebody please tell Lil Daddy take a day off….”

The jokes aside, Monica released the new song on Thursday night. It has since received raved comments, with one fan gushing, “You’re one of the most consistent artist that this game has ever had. You have been giving your all for GENERATIONS! Our parents listened to MONICA, then we grew up vibing to MONICA, now we watching our kids & nieces & nephews sing to Monica (as we STILL sing along) you’re so dope Mo.”
Another remarked, “Classically BEAUTIFUL!” while someone else declared, “Already got it on repeat. I’ll know the lyrics tomorrow.” Some others, meanwhile, speculated that the song is about Monica’s incarcerated ex C-Murder.
