Former Love Island and Dancing On Ice star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu says that some of her family members have been "sleeping outside" following the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

Ekin-Su, 28, appeared on Sky News on Tuesday to discuss the devastating earthquake, and she soon revealed the impact it had had on her family who still live in Turkey.

Ekin-Su said: "It's honestly so heartbreaking because it's my heritage. I'm Turkish and I've got so many family and friends out there."

She continued tell the viewers about her experience living in Turkey and being constantly scared of when the next earthquake might happen.

She said: "I lived in Turkey for two years and you just never know. Any movement we're always scared of the next earthquake. There was predictions made many years ago that there'll be a big earthquake in Istanbul.

"I always lived in fear when I lived in Istanbul but the fact that this has hit many cities and it's literally affected a big capacity of Turkey and Syria is so sad, so devastating. "

She later said: "I have members of my family who have obviously experienced the shake, they've been outside, they've been sleeping outside.

"It's scary because it's people who are very close to me. I've had numerous people on Instagram reach out to me, they've sent me locations of an address, pictures live. They are screaming for help.

"I want to use my platform as much as I can to help anyone out there from Syria and Turkey."

Ekin-Su, who has taken part in an appeal video for the British Red Cross, said she has donated money to rescue efforts and wants to go to Turkey at the 'first opportunity' with the charity.

She said: "As soon as the opportunity is given to me, I am there. Obviously it's my home, it's my second language. Anything I can do, I'm there to support anyone. So first opportunity, I'll be there."

Ekin-Su was born in Islington, London, to Turkish parents Sezer and Zekai and lived in Istanbul while starring on Turkish television shows, before moving back to the UK.

The death toll has now surpassed 12,000 people – the world's deadliest earthquake disaster in more than a decade.

It comes just a few months after Ekin-Su brought her boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti with her to Turkey to meet her relatives in ITV spinoff show called Ekin-Su & Davide: Homecomings.

In the documentary, Ekin-Su introduced Davide to her beloved grandmother.

Upon their arrival at her home, Davide was met with a warm embrace by Ekin-Su’s grandma who looked delighted to see them both.

Later on in the episode, Davide met other members of Ekin-Su’s family for a big dinner, where her younger brother Arda was also in attendance.
