Lionel Messi’s Family Celebrate His World Cup Win After the Game: “MY CHAMPION”
Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi just helped his team win the World Cup, and his family couldn’t be prouder. During the game, Messi scored two goals, helping Argentina beat out France for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Afterwards, his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their three sons — Mateo, Thiago, and Ciro — hit the field to help him celebrate his big win.
Roccuzzo also congratulated her husband in two emotional Instagram posts. In the first, she shared a series of photos taken after the game, showing the family taking turns posing with the trophy. She captioned the pics, “I don’t even know how to start. What a great pride we feel for you @leomessi Thank you for teaching us to never give up, that we have to fight it until the end IT WAS FINALLY DONE YOU ARE A WORLD CHAMPION, we know what you suffered for so many years, what you wanted to achieve this!!!”
In a second post, she shared a photo of Messi kissing the trophy, captioning the image simply, “MY CHAMPION ❤️??.”
For Messi, his family has been his touchstone throughout his career. “You grow and you learn. You gather experience in all aspects of life, on and off the field,” he told Marca in a 2019 interview. “But, as a human being, having three children changed my perspective on life, my way of thinking, and it also helped me grow. Even though there are few moments of respite at home with three kids, [Antonela and I] try to enjoy every second with them, whether it is watching the TV, playing, or whatever. We like to stay at home and enjoy these moments.”
