Les Dennis felt nervous about walking past the Heart FM studios in London, where his ex-wife Amanda Holden hosts her Breakfast Show, while going to record a podcast in the same building.

Two years ago, the now-Strictly star appeared on the Full Disclosure with James O’Brien podcast, which is recorded at the Global studios, where Heart FM is also broadcast.

During the podcast interview, the former Family Fortunes host was quizzed on “this weird period where you were more famous for your private life”.

Reflecting on the moment his divorce from Amanda, 52, was announced, Les, 69, admitted “it was an odd time”.

He added that although the high-profile split “feels like a lifetime ago”, he still grew concerned about “bumping into” his ex-wife years later in her place of work.

Les candidly shared:It was an odd time, it feels like a lifetime ago.

“One of my favourite quotes is the first line of The Go-Between: ‘The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there’.

“And I look back and go, ‘wow that was me’! And I’m walking through here and seeing the Heart studios and thinking, oh, there’s a possibility of bumping into somebody!”

Sharing further context for his listeners, host O’Brien added:Just for people who don’t know, we’re talking about Amanda Holden, who you were married to.

“And the breakdown of that marriage was horrible, and then, on Celebrity Big Brother, I think. that’s when everything got on top of you,” which Les agreed with.

The ill-fated marriage between the actors ended seven years after they got married in 1995, when Amanda had an affair, leaving Les heartbroken.

Their relationship ended in 2000, when Amanda got close to her Happy Birthday Shakespeare co-star Neil Morrissey, who apologised for their affair in 2014.

Heart FM presenter Amanda, who later remarried with second husband Chris Hughes, admitted the time following her affair was a “very dark time”.

Speaking about the difficult situation to the Mail, Amanda explained: “I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again.”

Les went on to find happiness with his current wife Claire, whom he married in 2009, before the couple welcomed two children together.
