Today in When Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Docuseries That Hasn’t Even Been Officially Announced Yet Air, it looks like we have a new potential premiere date: literally next month.
Despite claims that Harry was “frantically” asking Netflix to postpone the show until 2023, The Sun reports that it will “air within weeks,” referencing a Page Six insider’s previous comments that “the docuseries is still going ahead later this year.”
Kay! Though it’s probably worth noting that there still isn’t a trailer and Netflix hasn’t even announced the show. So when it does drop, the vibe will likely be:
Despite the lack of formal announcement, there’s been a lot of drama surrounding this docuseries and its eventual premiere. Back in October, one source told Page Six that “Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” while another noted that “Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths.”
Oh, and a “Netflix source” claimed that Meghan and Harry had “made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided — to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely. Netflix is standing by the filmmakers.”
Meanwhile, Deadline reported back in October that backlash to The Crown had caused Netflix to delay the Sussexes’ docuseries until 2023, with a source saying “They’re rattled at Netflix, and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary.”
Guess we’ll see what happens but…keep an eye out on your ex’s Netflix account that you’re still logged into ’til then.
