Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins was overwhelmed with emotion last night after beau Adam Whitehead asked her to be his wife.

She took to Instagram to share a video capturing the moment the proposal took place, after declaring it “the most incredible night of my life”.

“I said yes to marrying my best friend. My kind, sweet, patient and generous perfect person. I can’t wait to spend forever with you,” she gushed to her 153,000 followers.

The video depicted Adam slipping a ring on her finger as she told him “Yes” and then leaning in over the romantically lit dinner table for a lingering smooch.

The pair’s proposal video was published to the tune of Becky Hill and Weiss’ track ‘I Could Get Used To This’.

It’s barely been a year since the soap star went Instagram official with her relationship, having previously dated her on-screen brother-in-law Ross Barton (played by Michael Parr).

However, the pair called it quits in 2019, the year that he left the country to pursue an acting career further afield in the USA.

Following news of her engagement, the actress was inundated with support from her Emmerdale co-stars after sharing the happy news.

Her former on-screen ex Max Parker (Luke Posner on the soap) was one of those to congratulate the happy couple, exclaiming: “Ahhh amazing news!”

He wasn’t her only fictional flame commenting, as Adam Thomas, who played her on-screen husband Adam, chimed in with a cry of “Whattt??!!”

Jessie Elland, aka Chloe Harris, sent her good wishes, while Kerry Wyatt star Laura Norton echoed: “Unbelievable. Best news. 30s looking good.”

“Woo hoo, congratulations!” offered Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy Wyatt on the soap), while Rosie Bentham (Gabby Thomas onscreen) excitedly exclaimed: “Stop it !!!!!!!!”

The pair clearly have plenty of support for their marriage, with over 8,000 people giving the video footage a like.

Isabel and Adam have been an item officially for almost a year, and were seen attending the British Soap Awards together back in June.

The showbiz event took place just days after they teamed up to take part in the Great Manchester Run, which prompted Isabel to share a photo of the triumphant pair at the finish line.

Adam, who keeps his Instagram profile private, has not yet commented on the engagement.
