Former Girls Aloud star and X Factor judge Cheryl has shared a rare snap on social media as she posed with her "new pal" – an alpaca.

The 39 year old singer showed off her natural beauty as she snuggled up to her furry friend and wrapped an arm around the animal's neck for a sweet selfie.

The Fight for This Love star wore a loose white shirt and a navy cap over her brunette tresses which were swept back from her face and she grinned alongside her furry companion who was sporting bright red reins.

It's not clear exactly why Cheryl was with such an acquaintance, however, her caption hinted that she might be filming something exciting.

Her fans were quick to comment on the snap, with one writing: "How lucky is Limelight", whilst another wrote: "Not everyday you get a lama posing for a pic."

Someone else commented: "Ok this is so cute" and another said: "The sweetest", alongside a number of heart-eye emojis.

The caption read: "Made a new pal today .. he’s named limelight he’s a movie star", before film, popcorn, nail and smiling emojis.

Mother of one Cheryl, who shares her five year old son Bear with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, 28, is not an avid user of social media, and in particular Instagram, as she only posts sporadically to the platform, despite having 3.5million followers.

Though her posts are rare, Cheryl recently posted a sweet snap of herself and former Girls Aloud bandmates Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts, after they took part in a Race For Life in memory of their former bandmate Sarah Harding, who died from breast cancer in September 2021.

Alongside the snap, Cheryl wrote: "I had such a gorgeous day seeing and catching up with you all. You [the fans] made it easier and much better. Sarah would be so happy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming together to try and fight this! I love you."

Cheryl has spoken out in the past about the devastating death of her former bandmate and friend, and she recently said that she was "convinced" Sarah's ghost had visited her, revealing Sarah had “promised to come and visit Cheryl after her passing.”

Cheryl shared the story on the 5 Minutes On podcast, as she said: “I was driving to Newcastle last year and for weeks I had been fiddling around with my car to try and get the Bluetooth working and I couldn't.

“I was so infuriated with it I gave up, I let it go for a couple of months.”

The TV favourite continued: “I got into my car and Hear Me Out was playing, my phone wasn't on, the music hadn't been fiddled with, nothing, I hadn't even plugged it in yet and Hear Me Out was playing through the Bluetooth.

“I laughed and then I cried. What did she name the book after? Hear Me Out, it was her thing.”
