Maria Bakalova was one of the first winners of the night at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards!
The 24-year-old Bulgarian actress won the award for Best Supporting Actress during the event, which took place virtually on Sunday (March 7).
Maria won the award for playing Borat’s daughter Tutar Sagdiyev in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The other nominees in the category were Pieces of a Woman‘s Ellen Burstyn, Hillbilly Elegy‘s Glenn Close, The Father‘s Olivia Colman, Mank‘s Amanda Seyfried, and Minari‘s Youn Yuh-jung.
It was announced last month that Maria‘s next big American project will be Judd Apatow‘s upcoming pandemic-themed movie The Bubble, which will feature a star-studded cast. THR reports that the movie is a “meta-comedy will be about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a studio franchise film.”
