In the words of Priyanka Chopra: “Women supporting women: that’s what we’re all about.”
And at her bridal shower held at Tiffany & Co. on Sunday, the “Quantico” actress did just that, choosing to wear a $5,995 white strapless dress with a feathered skirt from Marchesa’s spring 2018 collection.
Marchesa is, of course, the brand helmed by Harvey Weinstein‘s ex-wife Georgina Chapman. It’s also a label that has been generally shunned by celebrities on the red carpet since the allegations of sexual misconduct against the mega-producer first made headlines in October 2017, save for a few notable exceptions.
Chopra thinks this unofficial boycott is totally unwarranted. “Georgina’s a friend of mine, and she has been. And it’s not her fault,” the star told Women’s Wear Daily. “And I don’t think it’s right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did.”
Added the “Baywatch” beauty: “That’s the wrong attitude. I’ve known her for years, and that was a beautiful gown, and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice.”
So does that mean we can expect Chopra to choose Marchesa for her big day, too?
