Leading the nominations tonight are “The Favourite” and “Roma” with 10 nominations.

The 91st Academy Awards are underway!

The 2019 Oscars have kicked off, airing live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to honor the year’s greatest achievements in film. The A-list event, which gives out Hollywood’s most prestigious awards, may mark the end of awards season, however, things are just getting started.

The show kicked off with two historic wins, as both Ruth E. Carter and Hannah Beachler made history for becoming the first black women to win in their categories — Costume Design and Production Design, respectively — for "Black Panther." It can only go up from here!

Leading the nominations tonight are "The Favourite" and "Roma," who are both up for 10 awards. "A Star Is Born" and "Vice" are close behind with 8, before "Black Panther" with 7. Tonight’s show could bring wins to first-time nominees, including Rami Malek ("Bohemian Rhapsody"), Adam Driver ("BlacKkKlansman"), Sam Elliott ("A Star Is Born"), and "The Favourite" costars Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.

Another first this year? "Black Panther" is the first superhero movie to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, a huge coup for the film’s cast, as well as producer Kevin Feige.
