A British company claims it has created a new cream which will rival Viagra – with less side effects.

Futura Medical says its new product – named Eroxon – works in just five minutes, although its effects last just half an hour.

Scientists reckon this will allow lovers to be more spontaneous.

The pharmaceutical firm said it was tested by 230 men, with 44% getting an erection within five minutes of application, and 70% within 10.

While Viagra is taken in pill form, the cream is designed to work solely on the area where it is rubbed, a report in the Mail on Sunday claims.

The company’s head of research, Ken James, said: "Statistics tell us 22 per cent of men don’t actually have sexual intercourse after taking Viagra for one reason or another.

"With our product, there’s spontaneity and the research we’ve done tells us that restores a lot of intimacy for couples."

Viagra – which dilates blood vessels throughout the body to ensure bloodflow to the penis – lasts for around four hours.

Rival drug Cialis is said to last for 36 hours.

Mr James believes most people will prefer Eroxon’s fast impact, even though it will not last as long.

If it is approved, Futura Medical hopes the cream will be available in Europe by 2021.
