DEAR DEIDRE: MY little boy has been crying at the thought that both his grandads may die because of the coronavirus.
He is seven, while his sister is nine and of course she questions us about what’s happening.
My father has diabetes and my husband’s father is recovering from prostate cancer.
Both are in their seventies and so count as extra-vulnerable.
They are both self-isolating and of course we cannot visit.

DEIDRE SAYS: Even with small children, it is more helpful to acknowledge that we are going through worrying times – and it is understandable that he is frightened for his grandads, but they are doing the right thing to protect themselves and stay well.
There is lots of helpful guidance and advice on how to talk to children who are worried about these issues – at winstonswish.org or by calling the helpline on 08088 020 021.
