Lisa Rinna is finally changing up her signature hairstyle after decades of rocking the same short ‘do.
Earlier this week, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, 55, revealed on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” that after 27 years of wearing her same shaggy bob, she is working with Sally Hershberger to grow it out.
Page Six Style spoke exclusively with the celebrity hairstylist, who shared how she is transforming Rinna’s trademark locks.
“We’re keeping the front a bit shorter so you can really see her face,” Hershberger said. “Lisa has such good hair that we just have to let it happen.”
The top stylist, who has worked with famous clients like Joan Jett, Tom Cruise and John Mayer, is the ideal person to update Rinna’s hair; after all, she created the star’s iconic look.
“Her signature short shag haircut is my ‘Sally shag’ and has been done for years at my LA salon by hairstylists that I trained,” Hershberger said. The choppy, layered cut was first made famous by Meg Ryan.
Hershberger said a stylist at her LA salon has been cutting Rinna’s hair for years because she and Rinna’s schedules “never synced,” but the pair finally connected.
“I was in LA earlier this year doing Miley Cyrus and Lisa wrote me — the timing was perfect,” she said. “We have so much fun together. She has this fabulous dry humor and so do I. We have the best time.”
Hershberger said she decided to update Rinna’s ‘do after seeing her in a long wig, adding, “It just looked so hot that I said, ‘We’ve got to grow your hair out.’”
“The goal is the journey,” Hershberger said. “Her husband loves her hair short, so we’re keeping the front a bit shorter so you can really see her face. Our plan is to go as long as we can until it doesn’t work — we just have to feel it.”
