I am 35, with two small sons. I work almost full-time and worry I am not making a good job of any of it anyway because there are just not enough hours in the day.

Now I have to wear a cast, use crutches and have been told to rest.

We are hosting Christmas this year and there is so much to be done. I suffer from depression and all this has made me feel worse. I don’t know how I’ll manage.

DEIDRE SANDERS: You are going to have to breathe out and let go. Admit you are convalescent and accept you cannot possibly do everything you planned.

Sit back and let others do the work this time, or ask another member of the family to host Christmas.

You have good reason to back out and can always make up for it next year. Put your own needs first this time.

My e-leaflet Coping With Depression explains help available.
