A horrified mother claims a takeaway driver along with a gang of six other men "attacked her family with knives, bats and a gun".

The 23-year-old, who does not wish to be named, says it all kicked off on from 2.30am on Wednesday, January 2 at their house in Hull.

An argument is believed to have broken out between her and a delivery man after she requested that he stopped beeping his horn outside their home.

The mum claimed that the delivery man began to abuse her family then tried to run down her brother-in-law before driving away.

He is then said to have returned moments later with another six men inside another car, who tried to smash their way into the family’s house.

CCTV footage taken from the mum’s home appears to capture part of the incident.

According to the footage one man is seemingly seen hitting the metal gate before dragging a woman away and attacking her.

The woman’s three-year-old son was allegedly banged in the head by the door that one of the men smashed against the wall, which left him with a painful lump on his head.

Meanwhile her partner is said to have been chased with a knife and her sister badly beaten while trying to keep the men outside.

The woman told Hull Live: "We ordered from [the takeaway] as we do every Tuesday when my partner gets in from working late, and we put on the JustEat form for the driver to ring us when he got there, as it can be hard for them to find our house.

"The driver never rang us and just kept bibbing his horn really loud for us to come out, so we did and asked him to stop as we didn’t want him to wake all the neighbours up, and that’s when he turned real nasty and started shouting at us and tried to run my brother-in-law down.

"He then came back with another car full of men – there must have been seven in total – and they were armed with knives and bats and one of them even had a gun and they tried to burst the door down to get in to the house."

She added: "It was proper frightening – they dragged my sister to the floor and punched and hit her and grabbed and smashed her wrist as she was trying to protect the five kids in the house and stop the men getting in.

"My little three-year-old boy ended up with a lump on his head as the door hit him when the gang was trying to get in.

"My partner tried to draw the men out of the house and he ended up getting chased down Anlaby Road by a man with a knife before they eventually left us alone after we said we called the police, but it took them over half an hour before they got to us and by then the men were gone.

"What happened is just such a massive shock – the men were so brutal and it was so scary – none of us can still believe that it happened.

"To top it off, we spent £15 and didn’t even get the food or our money back."

Humberside Police say they have received complaints "from both parties" and are looking into the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "We have received reports from both parties involved in an alleged affray on Anlaby Road shortly before 3am today, Wednesday 2 January.

"We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident and whether any offences have been committed by either party.

"We would appeal for independent witnesses to call us on 101 quoting log 41 of 02/01/19."
