Home and Away is currently on a break over the Christmas period, but new trailers tease a whole lot of action coming to the Bay in 2020 – from a shock disappearance to a brand new family.

A preview hot off the press in Australia has revealed the introduction of a brand new family, the Paratas. The trailer shows the newcomers on the beach, with one of them saying ‘Wherever we go, we’re only one conversation away from having our past discovered.’

We already know about the explosive season finale, which shows Northern Districts hospital caught up in a terrifying siege with at least one life lost – and Back to the Bay has revealed that our first glimpse of the Peratas will be when one of the new family members get caught up in the drama.

New Zealand actor, Rob Kipa-Williams, will be playing Ari – short for Ariki Wiremu Parata. Taking to Instagram, he said: ‘My name is Ariki Wiremu Parata (Ari) I was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia 12 years ago.

‘I’ve had a few challenges and those challenges brought me to Summer Bay.. I love my whanau (family), I’ll do anything for them, but never cross me.

‘I didn’t know the guy who died but my heart goes out to the family.. As for me I guess you’ll find out if I stay in the bay or if I go when @homeandaway returns in 2020.’

The Kiwi actor will be joined by Kree Peters, Kawakawa Fox-Reo and Ethan Browne in 2020 episodes. He said: ‘We feel so honoured to join the Home and Away family. From extremely talented cast and crew to our incredible locations, Summer Bay is the place to be. We can’t wait for our UK fans to meet the Paratas in 2020 on Channel 5.’

Elsewhere in the Bay, it’s far from quiet. UK viewers can see a world exclusive sneak peek of what’s coming up in the New Year on My 5, as Jason Smith (who played Robbie Hunter) returns to give us all the lowdown on what to expect.

Love will be in the air as Alf continues his romance with Martha and Willow’s relationship with Alex grows. Meanwhile, Marilyn and John will experience a major turning point, while Ben and Maggie go through struggles.

Tori’s life is hanging in the balance, and there’s worry ahead for Leah as she goes missing. Robbo will come face to face with his family’s killer – but will the trouble end there?

The special My5 episode will air on 31st December 2019. Fans can watch the explosive new scenes begin to unfold in the Bay when Home and Away returns on January 6 at 13:15 and 18:00 on Channel 5.
