Michael C. Hall officially has plans on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Dexter star will be taking the lead in the candy company’s first live stage show, which Skittles will produce instead of airing a traditional ad during the game. The “Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical,” will be a 30-minute show in front of an audience in New York City, and will only have a single performance on Feb. 3.
Tickets for the show at Town Hall near Times Square are still available and range from $30 to $205 each—and all proceeds from sales will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
In the teaser video (below) for the performance, Hall is seen talking to a therapist about whether or not he should accept the unconventional role.

“I have been having some doubts,” Hall says to the therapist, who brings up his anxiety surrounding the musical. “I don’t really do ads.” The therapist responds: “Well it would be stressful to be seen by millions of people on the big game.”
Hall then corrects her, saying that it’s not actually a commercial, but rather a live show during the game. “Okay, fine, I won’t make the Skittles ad. I’ll never make an ad again,” he continues, as the camera zooms out to a Broadway stage in front of a live audience.

This is not the first time Skittles has chosen the non-traditional route with Super Bowl promotion. Last year, the company produced an ad featuring Friends star David Schwimmer—but only let one lucky fan actually see it. The company said at the time: “The ad will be revealed to Marcos on Super Bowl Sunday on Skittles’ Facebook page. Menendez’s reaction is the only thing the public will be able to view on Facebook and no one else besides him will ever see the ad, not even Schwimmer.”
