Zuaya, 35B Kensington High St, Kensington, London W8 5EB.

A pisco sour is a classic cocktail at most Peruvian establishments. The signature drink is made up of a brandy from Peru, syrup, lime, egg whites and bitters.

The cocktail is super refreshing and one of the most popular drinks in Latin America.

At Zuaya, based in West London, the cocktail, just like their menu, comes with a twist.

The modern London to Lima cocktail is based on a pisco base and also includes the spicier Carribean falernum and agave syrup.

But just like a pisco sour, it certainly sets you up for an evening.

Zuaya offers fun fusion from Latin America, with lots of surprise flavours throughout the menu.

The grilled octopus with sweet potato is the standout highlight of the menu for me. The extremely tender lamb tacos, topped with pineapple, are also a treat.

I’m less keen on their raspberry gazpacho, but Bar Fox has never been a big gazpacho fan. Like most of the food options at Zuaya, it’s definitely fun and interesting.

The menu options are inspired by a blend of fine dining and street food. In reality this means you can expect colourful food, vibrant flavours, decor inspired by a tropical rainforest and good service.

This blend of inspiration definitely works and leaves you wanting more. All in all, a great spot for a tropical experience on the Kensington cobbles.

Zuaya is part of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme.

Food and drink news this week

Tandoor Chop House opened up in Notting Hill last week. The new location, featuring their pop-up Tandoor Tacos, is on a picturesque street and well-worth a visit, especially with the Eat Out To Help Out scheme discount throughout August.

Love Triangle, a new pizza restaurant which opened up this week, is donating one free meal every time a pizza is sold in support of the Wandsworth Food Bank. What’s not to love about pizza with a slice of charity.

Indian restaurant Gunpowder launches their own delivery kit so you can have their lamb chops at home from the Bank Holiday weekend. The kit, including a rack of lamb, tandoori new potatoes and sauces, is priced at £38 and serves 2-3 people.
