Bright red and black PVC pieces that could be straight out of a fetish shop are being sold as night-out options by fast fashion retailers.

But the high-shine looks are anything but squeaky clean.

We’ve shot six matching looks from regular brands, and er, specialist shops, and asked our model Francesca from South West London, to rate each outfit for comfort.

Can you tell which is which?

One — Vinyl dress

Left:

  • Black vinyl dress, £25 from Isawitfirst.com — buy now
  • Boots, £50 from Pretty Little Thing

Verdict: “I love the shape of this one, I could tell it was a regular brand from the material, but the shine was good and the length was nice.”

Rating: 9/10.

Right:

  • Black latex dress, £40 from Ann Summers
  • Boots, £69.99 from Honour.co.uk

Verdict: “The fit was really small even though it was a medium. A little tricky to get on, but I love how it made my figure look.”

Rating: 9/10.

Flash mac

Left:

  • Red trench, £64.00 from Missy Empire — buy now
  • Heels, £22 from Pretty Little Thing — buy now

Francesca says: “It’s a heavier fabric than the other style, a bit sweaty but still nice. Though I’m shocked that this is more expensive than the specialist version.”

Rating: 4/10.

Right:

  • Red trench, £61.99 from Honour.co.uk
  • Heels, £34.99 from Honour.co.uk

Francesca says: “The quality of this coat isn’t bad, the material is actually really soft. Not too sweaty, and a great bright colour.”

Rating: 7/10.

Out on the prowl

Left:

  • Red zip trousers, £74.99 from Honour.co.uk
  • Heels, £34.99 from Honour.co.uk
  • Black latex bra £22.99 from LoveHoney.co.uk

Verdict: “It took three people to help me get into these trousers, but once they were on – they were great.

“Honour sell a latex dressing aid serum that was a great help putting them on. It made the latex even shinier.”

Rating: 7/10.

Right:

  • Bra top, £35 from ASOS — buy now
  • Red trousers, £24 from Missy Empire — buy now
  • Heels, £18 from Boohoo.com — buy now

Verdict: “I loved both trousers, these weren’t as good quality, but they were easier to put on. And I love the bralet.”

Rating: 7/10.

Little red set

Left:

  • Red latex skirt, £24.99 from Lovehoney.co.uk
  • Lace bodysuit, £34.99 from  Lovehoney.co.uk

Rating: 8/10.

Right:

  • Red vinyl skirt, £10 from boohoo.com — buy now
  • Lace bodysuit, £22 from Pretty Little Thing — buy now
  • Heels, £22 from Pretty Little Thing — buy now

Verdict: “This skirt is so sweaty and short. The body is a nice shape and quite comfortable, but I much preferred the other style.”

Rating: 6/10.

Skin-tight trousers

Left:

  • Mesh body, £14 from Boohoo — buy now
  • Heels, £18 from Boohoo — buy now
  • Vinyl bandeau, £12 from Missguided.co.uk
  • Vinyl trousers, £16.50 from Isawitfirst.com

Verdict: ‘The trousers were so difficult to put on, they were way too tight and I was sweating by the time I had one leg in.

“The body is more itchy and the fabric feels cheap. I could tell immediately that this was from the high street.”

Rating: 2/10.

  • Bandeau top, £19.99 from Lovehoney.co.uk
  • Mesh body, £12 from Ann Summers
  • Heels, £34.99 from Honour.co.uk

Verdict: “The trousers are a bit hard to put on and take off, but gave my legs a nice shape. The mesh body is lovely – really soft and versatile.”

Rating: 6/10.
