A new viral trend called the 'Psychic TV' challenge cropped up on TikTok last month and sees users turning to Netflix to find out their destiny with hilarious results.

How it works is you simply type in the first letter of your name into the streaming service's search bar.

From there, you pick a number between one and 10 to determine the show you choose. Then click into that show and depending on whether the show has more than one season, pick a number between one and the latest series it's on.

One you've clicked into the corresponding season, then choose a number between one and last episode in that series.

Finally pick a minute from the episode depending on it's run time it could be between one and 32 minutes or one an 57 minutes for example.

Fast-forward to that minute and here lies your future according to Netflix with rib-tickling results.

The challenge first went viral after Grace Bergie shared the mystic trick last month on TikTok.

In the original video, which has over 10 million views, the social media user can be heard telling her friend from behind the camera, "we're going to base your future on a Netflix show".

After landing on American crime series NCIS, Grace goes through the motions to get to the final stage when she asks her pals to pick a minute of the show's run time – between one to 42 minutes.

Fast-forwarding to the 23rd minute, Grace asks if her friend if she's "ready for her future?" and hits play.

It's at this point they are left in hysterics when one of the crime drama's character appears onscreen and tells her "well she passed away".

Since the challenge went viral last month, people have been sharing their hilarious results on the app, including a mother, whose future sees her on America's Got Talent's semi-finals.
