A man was flattered to receive an unexpected note while he was at work, containing the offer of a date from not one but two people.
Student Cody Craig, 23, was working at a mall in Salt Lake City, Utah last Friday when a co-worker approached him and gave him a hand-written note on a scrap of paper.
The letter was from shopper Tanner Forbes, also 23, an actor who had seen Cody while out with his friend Janae Klumpp.
He wrote: ‘Hey, if you’re not gay, my friend thinks you’re cute. Here’s her number:’
His method seems a little bit ‘primary school’ (you know, "my friend fancies you!") but it’s sweet.
However, he then continued: "(and if you are gay, here’s mine:)"
Cody shared a photograph of the note on his Twitter account, saying: "Well this was a highlight of my day".
Tanner’s genius note has since been retweeted more than 80,000 times and received more than 360,000 likes.
So high was the level of interest in the propositions, Cody has been updating his Twitter followers with what happened next – and it was bad news for Janae.
He replied to the tweet revealing: "I texted the bottom number last night."
It was followed by another update, which said: "I asked if he wanted to go to a movie (he says he loves movies) and he said yes."
Cody continued to fill everyone in on the progress of his blossoming relationship with Tanner, explaining how they couldn’t decide which film to see.
"Ok it’s date time! I’m on my way to meet him at the restaurant," he said.
"We still couldn’t decide on a movie so we’re gonna make a plan while we eat. Wow I just got nervous for the first time."
The two men went out for sushi and then watched comedian Iliza Shlesinger.
Cody posted a photograph with his date, holding up the note which brought them together, saying: "He can’t use chopsticks but I still think he’s cute."
Another Twitter user revealed they had met their wife in the exact same way.
She said: "I did this my first year of university! Took my chance that she was also gay and gave her my number on a note asking for a date before running off to another class.
"Been together for six yrs (sic) and we’re getting married in May."
