Panto star and former Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowen tore a muscle in his calf during a matinee show in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre this week.

The star has two more shows of Polly and the Magic Lamp left to perform before he can rest his injury.

“I’m in bits,” Rory wrote on Twitter yesterday.

He explained: “In the middle of the Olympia Panto matinee I went and tore a muscle in my calf. There’s going to be lots of waiving of arms and hopping on one leg for the next few shows. I’m in bits. The physio told me the leg needs complete rest. Impossible! The show must go on.”

The star performed a dance on crutches in yesterday’s show, and said the cast and audience were in “hysterics”.

He shared a photo of the moment saying: “Well here I was last night hobbling around the stage of the Olympia panto. The show was the funniest yet. There’s an Irish dancing scene I had to do on one leg. The cast and audience were in hysterics. But the show must go on.”
