Believe it or not, but even this Marvel superhero gets nervous around the Terminator. Chris Pratt admitted Arnold Schwarzenegger made him nervous prior to the Guardians of the Galaxy star proposing to Katherine Schwarzenegger, Arnold’s daughter.
While chatting with Extra at the Feb. 2 premiere for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Pratt opened up about asking Arnold for permission to marry his daughter and how that kind of conversation would make anyone nervous, including even Pratt.
“I think any person who appreciates a tradition and asks a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage, it’s inevitably going to be something that makes you a little nervous, but that’s sort of the beauty of it, you know?” Pratt told Extra.
Even if the situation was a little nerve-racking, it clearly went well, because Pratt and Katherine are now engaged. Plus, Arnold has done nothing but rave about his future son-in-law. In a separate interview with Extra‘s Mario Lopez shared on Jan. 31, the former governor of California gushed about their engagement, “That was really fantastic. She is so happy, they both are so happy.”
Arnold then confirmed that Pratt asked for his blessing and said, “As I said to him, he is such a likable guy. I love Chris — he’s fantastic. He’s a wonderful guy. They both look really great together, they’re both happy together, so I wish them both the best of luck.”
The couple announced their engagement on Jan. 14 with a photo of the two embracing and showing off Katherine’s gorgeous diamond ring. “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!” the Avengers: Infinity War actor captioned his photo. “I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!”
Next to the same picture revealing their exciting news, Katherine also wrote, “My sweet love. Wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone but you.”
They’ve certainly had quite the whirlwind romance. They first made headlines as a couple in June 2018 and didn’t confirm their relationship until this past December when they went Instagram official for the very first time. And now here they are engaged and excited to get married. Speaking of their future celebration, Pratt recently discussed their wedding date.
In a February interview with Us Weekly, the actor revealed, “A little, you know, maybe fall, winter kind of thing and you know, we’ve got a lot to get done.” He also admitted they haven’t started planning just yet, but they have an idea for the theme.
Whenever Pratt and Katherine say “I do,” you bet it will be a family affair — and one where Arnold hopefully doesn’t make Pratt anymore nervous than he might be on his actual wedding day.
