Sam Hunt says he plans to finish recording his next studio album this summer.

“I’ll start recording the best of the last 10, 11, 12 months … in July and August, and I should have a record there,” the country music star told Sirius XM‘s The Highway’s Storme Warren and Buzz Brainard.

“The songs are showing up. I would like to have two or three more between now and July, but for the most part, the record’s there. It’s just a matter of recording it,” he added.

Hunt said he did not plan on touring last year until Luke Bryan asked him to come out, adding, “It was too good of an opportunity, so that’s my excuse for not having new music out last year.”

Hunt gave the interview ahead of his weekend set at Stagecoach Festival in California.

He has two more shows coming up: the Off the Rails Country Music Fest in Frisco, Texas, on May 5, and at Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colorado, on June 14.
