Kate Ferdinand has reportedly been forced to cancel her dream baby shower after the UK went into lockdown for the second time this year.

The 29 year old, who recently got excited as she shared her big baby haul including clothes and toys, is expecting a baby boy with her husband Rio, 42.

It has been said that her plans to hold a "big celebration" ahead of her son's arrival has had to be halted, which has left the star completely "devastated".

An insider told Heat magazine that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic made the former TOWIE star break down into tears as it "ruined all [her] plans".

"She’s always gone above and beyond when organising her friends’ baby showers, so she was really looking forward to hers. She’s devastated."

It comes as Kate recently hit back at a troll who slammed her for calling her husband Rio's children her "family."

The star is step mum to the three children Rio shared with his late wife, Rebecca Ellison. Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, nine, have warmly embraced Kate joining their family, pleading with their dad to propose to Kate before he popped the question.

Kate recently took to social media to share a gorgeous throwback image of herself swimming in the sea on a past holiday before England went into the second national lockdown.

The stunner wrote to her 1.3million Instagram followers: "One of my favourite days of this year, out at sea with the family …. no worries, happy & stress free."

However, one of the former reality star's followers wasn't too happy with Kate for labelling the children as her "family".

She wrote: "Ooof. Rebeccas family. I'm all for stepmoms etc. And you've stepped into a massive hole. But those kids are Rebeccas. And they'll not thank you for saying otherwise [sic].

"Apart from that you are a lovely lovely girl. But, those wedding letters to 'your' kids was terrible. Imagine if you were her looking down, or her mum n dad… not cool [sic]."

Whilst many of her fans jumped to her defence to reassure her she was doing "an amazing job" helping to raise the children, Kate couldn't help but send a response herself.

She wrote: "Wow. Very very narrow minded. Rebecca is there mum & forever will be – a mother can never be replaced But let me clarify WE ARE family, families aren’t just about blood, but who is there for us and loves us unconditionally. [sic]

"Please think before you speak, are all foster & adopted children family less?! Of course not. Family is about love and choosing to be there for one another."

She continued: "We are family by CHOICE it’s so sad you don’t understand, let’s hope you never have to go through such heartache to get it." Rio backed up his wife, writing underneath her message: "Well said love," alongside a red love heart emoji.
