Martin Scorsese hosted a Lincoln Center screening of Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” and, “It was one of those ‘only in New York’ moments with these two iconic New York directors talking side-by-side,” said a guest.

Scorsese said of the film’s coda, which includes footage of the Charlottesville, Va., death of Heather Heyer, “It transcends the film medium what Spike did there.”

Lee explained, “Charlottesville happened while we were in pre-production. So, I knew that was going to be the ending.”
