Jenna Bush Hager has taken to Instagram with a heartfelt tribute following the passing of her grandfather and former President George H.W. Bush.

“Waking up missing this giant of a man who gave me everything,” she captioned a happy picture of her, her twin Barbara Bush and their grandfather on Saturday morning. “He taught me and my family about service, family, decency, the power of gentle words and a beautiful heart. I will miss him desperately but so happy he and my Grandmother are back together.”

George H.W. Bush died on Friday night at the age of 94. His death comes just months after the death of his wife, Barbara, in April.

The “Today” contributor, 37, also posted a cartoon of his wife and their late daughter Robin, who passed away at age 3 of leukemia, with a sign that reads, “We waited for you.”

Of the image — which is on it’s way to becoming viral — Hager wrote in a lengthy post recalling a conversation she had with her grandfather about death.

“I used to be scared of dying,” she remembered him telling her. “But now in some ways I look forward to it … when I die I’m going to reunited with these people that I’ve lost.”

Hager’s NBC colleagues also sent their condolences in the comments of her post.

Savannah Guthrie wrote, “You have all the best of him — so his beautiful spirit lives on. Love you.”

Kathie Lee Gifford added, “Dearest Jenna, my heart feels your hurt and I’m sending you the balm of my love and prayers.”
