Pharrell Williams was joined by Jay Z, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Missy Elliott and more as he hosted the inaugural edition of his Something in the Water music festival this weekend in his hometown of Virginia Beach.
Other A-listers to perform include Snoop Dogg, Usher, SZA, Charlie Wilson, Busta Rhymes, Timbaland and Tyler the Creator. In addition, Travis Scott performed a scheduled solo set.
With the headlining set called simply “Pharrell and Friends,” Williams opened his 90-minute set with N.O.R.E‘s “Nothin,” followed by Nelly‘s “Hot in Herre,” Kendrick Lamar‘s “Alright” and Future‘s “Move That Dope” before introducing Snoop Dogg for “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
Williams was forced to cancel the first day of the music festival after severe storms hit the coast.
“Due to the impact caused by today’s severe weather at the beach venue, we are sorry to announce that we are unable to put on a show tonight,” organizers wrote on the festival’s Twitter page.
They added, “Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! A portion of your ticket purchase will be refunded due to today’s weather-related cancellation. Ticket purchasers, keep an eye out for an email coming soon.”
