Gogglebox favourite Sophie Sandiford, 24, has lost her job at the popular high street store due to the company going into liquidation. The reality star is amongst thousands of other staff members to be affected by the closures.

Today, Sophie took to Instagram to share a picture of herself beaming for the camera while standing outside a store with a colleague.

The pair stood with their arms in the air on what appeared to be one of their last days as staff members.

She wrote: “We might be going but we are going with a smile #debenhams.”

Many of the star’s 290,000 followers flocked to her post to comment.

One user wrote: “Let’s make this a good Christmas, I’m a Debenhams colleague too!”

A second commented: “Sorry to hear that, sure you and your brother will have your own TV show soon… you’ll be sorted.”

“Keep your chins up, if anyone can keep everyone upbeat it’s you two. Send my love to everyone xx,” a third penned.

The closure of all 124 Debenhams stores will put thousands of jobs at risk.

It comes after the popular high street store went into administration for the second time in April.

Proving to be a tough year for businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, Topshop owner Arcadia Group has also gone into administration, putting 13,000 jobs at risk.

Sophie broke down in tears on Gogglebox after learning the country were to be put into another national lockdown last month.

The Prime Minister explained the new rules which included the temporary closure of bars, restaurants and non-essential shops in a press conference.

The reality star was comforted by her brother Pete as she sobbed at people’s jobs and livelihoods being affected.

She added that the lockdown was “s*** for everyone”.

Taking to Twitter after the episode aired, she thanked her fans for their support.

“Thank you so much for all the lovely messages tonight,” she began.

“It’s a tough time for everyone but we’ve all just got to hang in there, sending love to everyone, better days are coming.”

One fan wrote: “I was surprised to see you cry last night. You and Pete are normally so happy. Stay strong, and keep smiling.”

“Head up Sophie, you guys are brill and continue to make the world smile,” a second commented.

Gogglebox continues Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
