The former TOWIE star left fans in stitches last week with the debut of her brand new reality show, Diva Forever.
On a more serious note, Gemma Collins took to Instagram on Monday to share a throwback pic to her youth, in a bid to spread a message of body positivity.
The 38-year-old reflected on her teens, when she had “no body hang-ups and pressure”, and encouraged young people to “be body confident and free”.
She said: “I never grew up body conscious it wasn’t a thing when I was younger I was just young free and me…
“Yeah I look good, but in an innocent way, there was no panic… this pic was NOT taken to fit in with a wall page on make it Instagram-worthy.”
The Dancing on Ice star condemned Instagram for the negative impact it can have on users’ body image, suggesting that it’s become common to put too much “on show” in posts.
Gemma added: “The way people expose themselves nowadays on the ‘gram is way too much. Nothing is held back anymore, everything’s on show, nothing is left to the imagination, it is way too much…
“Younger ones are watching I just want to say to the younger ones on Insta be YOU and don’t worry about what you see on Insta be young to be happy and free.”
In the comment section, her 1.4million followers thanked her for her words of advice and praised her honesty when it comes to talking about body image.
One said: “Completely agree…”
A second chipped in: “This really needed to be said by someone with a platform like yours! Well done.”
While a third remarked: “Good for you GC!”
For those hoping for a little more straight-talking from the reality star, tune into Diva Forever on Wednesday night at 9pm on ITVbe.
