Seeing as 2020 turned out to be a year of sheer hell, one thing that has helped keep people afloat is focusing on nostalgia.

From the legendary Verzuz battles on Instagram to hit shows like Sister Sister and Girlfriends coming to Netflix, there's no question that reminiscing on the best moments of the '90s and early '00s is far more appealing than spiraling in the present decade.

But when it came to the beauty trends of that era, in specific, shimmer was undoubtably the name of the game — from body spray to lip gloss. And now, thanks to Kimora Lee Simmons, you can relive those days once again with the re-launch of Baby Phat Beauty.

"Launching Baby Phat Beauty alongside my daughters [Ming and Aoki] has been a priority since I reacquired Baby Phat last year," the entrepreneur shares with InStyle. "Women want to purchase from brands that represent them, that speak to their aspirations and lifestyle. They also want to purchase from people that look like them."

The beauty line is launching with its Shimmer Dreams collection, which is a three-piece set of a lip gloss, illuminating body spray, and a hydrating body lotion.

There are three kits to choose from: the Ethereal Shimmer Dreams Set, featuring Aoki's signature scent; the Opulence Shimmer Dreams Set, which offers Ming's fragrance; and the Divine Shimmer Dreams Set, with Kimora's custom scent.

Although the products have been upgraded to give you a contemporary feel and finish, OG Baby Phat loyalists — who had the lip glosses, perfumes, and rings (if you know, you know) on deck — only need to take one look at the revamped line to know that although it may be 2020, the brand has stayed true to their classic early '00s beauty roots.

"Baby Phat Beauty is a multi-generational brand created specifically for the women who grew up with me and my daughters," Kimora shares.

Products aside, the designer is well aware that while two decades have passed since the brand's initial launch, Baby Phat's place in Black culture, and its significance to the community has never shifted. However, there's a specific reason why Kimora knew this was the right moment to relaunch.

"Although it’s been a year in the making, launching this collection now, when we’re having a global conversation about diversity and inclusion, is even more meaningful," she shares. "It is what our brand has represented from day one."
